Shabbat

Shabbat is a day of rest, joy and holiness. We invite you to celebrate Shabbat with us each Friday at Congregation Children of Israel.
Our service is warm, and welcoming, including a balanced variety of English and Hebrew. Our rabbi ensures that the service is meaningful for any guests and visitors. We welcome your children and encourage them to attend services with you and participate when appropriate. Typically, the Friday night service includes a Torah reading and a sermon. Our service lasts approximately one hour. After the service, we gather together in the Social Hall for an Oneg (celebration) in which we mingle and socialize, celebrating our time together as a community. We encourage participation of our members during services, and we are proud to have two different singing groups (the Choir and the Ensemble) that enhance our prayers through their spirit and song. We also are blessed to have the talents of two Cantorial Soloists that participate on various Shabbat evenings.
If you are interested in attending a service, please contact the synagogue office at 706.850.1212 orĀ athenstemple@gmail.com.
